Back to Music

Back to Music .

As families gear up for a new school year, I believe it’s just as important to think about how we can start a new “Back to Music” season for our children and ourselves, and I’ve seen time and time again how music not only shapes young minds but also strengthens family bonds and builds confidence that carries over into every area of life. This summer/fall, while backpacks are being filled with new pencils and notebooks, I encourage you to also fill your schedules with opportunities to grow musically.

My team and I are passionate about helping families see music not just as another extracurricular activity, but as a life-changing journey. When kids begin a new school year, they are excited about the possibilities ahead—new teachers, new goals, new opportunities. Music should be part of that excitement. It’s more than just learning notes on a page; it’s about creating memories, building discipline, and discovering hidden talents. Whether it’s piano, guitar, drums, violin, or voice, there’s a place for every child—and every adult—to join in.

We are especially excited this year to invite families to become part of something bigger: our MTribe. When you join Tupelo Music Academy, you don’t just sign up for lessons—you join a house, a community of bandmates and fellow musicians who are all working toward growth. Think of it as a musical family within a family. Each house brings a sense of teamwork, friendly competition, and encouragement as students “level up” on their journey. The energy is incredible when you see kids and parents alike celebrating one another’s progress and pushing each other to achieve more.
I believe music is best when it’s shared. That’s why our MTribe and house competitions are so important. They give every student a chance to belong, to cheer for others, and to experience the thrill of accomplishment together. Just like in sports or academics, having a team makes the process more meaningful. And unlike many activities that end when the season is over, music is a gift that stays with you for a lifetime.

As we step into this new year, I want to challenge families not only to think about school success but also about the success that comes from developing creativity, discipline, and confidence through music. Adding music lessons into your child’s schedule doesn’t just teach them an instrument—it helps shape them into more focused, determined, and well-rounded individuals. And for adults, it’s never too late to pick up an instrument or return to one you loved years ago.
This new school year , let’s make it more than just “back to school.” Let’s make it “Back to Music.” Together, we at Tupelo Music Academy will continue to provide programs that inspire, engage, and transform. If you want your family to be part of something bigger, to join a house, to compete with bandmates, and to level up on a new musical journey, then the MTribe is waiting for you.
